Surtarang 2011 begins with a tribute to legends
Graduate School of Business and Administration (GSBA), Greater Noida,
marked the beginning of Surtarang (a national level singing talent hunt competition
organized in association with Sangam Kala Group), a three day gala affair with
music on November 3, 2011 by paying a tribute to the legends of Indian music.
Singing maestros such as Jagjit Singh, Kishore Kumar, R. D. Burman, S. D.
Burman were remembered fondly during the day long event. Not only the people
who lived the genre but also the toddlers who started their lives with the
beats of A. R. Rahman and Shankar Ehsan Loy paid their tributes to the legends
of yesteryears in their own way.
The competition to sing legendary hits was open
to all categories and received a huge response of more than a hundred participants.
The participants were judged on rhythm, diction, pronunciation and most
importantly ‘Sur’ – the musical notes.
The event was marked open by GSBA’s Executive
Director and Regional President, Sangam Kala Group, Dr. P. L. Maggu. The judges
for the day were Mr. Raj Chauhan, Mr. Mukesh Sharma and Ms. Swaroopa
Chatterjee.
